BERLIN.  The German Capital City, in the heart of Brandenburg

The creative metropolitan region surrounded by beautiful lakes, rivers and excellent cycling, hiking or boating opportunities is the base for award winning and internationally renowned game development studios and must be defined as one of Europe’s most vibrant games industry communities. It’s the place to play at the Computerspielemuseum, the A MAZE. festival, or the LVL world of gaming. It’s where the public content funding body was the first in Germany to include game productions into their program. It’s where Womenize! Games and Tech was first funded by the Senate of Berlin. It’s where the Schwules Museum hosted the Rainbow Arcade exhibition. It’s where the Konzerthaus orchestra goes Twitch. It’s where the one and only collective of indie game studios, Saftladen, was born. It’s where you wait in line of a club for more than two hours at two at night. t’s the home of Booster Space. It’s the best place to run and host gamesweekberlin – and we love it.

In order to explore more of the city, Booster Space and FACTORY C started the Berlin X – a series of open air networking events taking place in exclusive locations across the German Capital Region. You can apply for an invite by reaching out to your contact person in our organization.

The Reason Why Berlin

According to the business support agency, Berlin Partner, approximately 18% of all German games companies are based in Berlin. From startups to international players and many medium-sized tech businesses in between, the city has them all. Most of the companies are located in the centre of town, as their business  location center shows on Berlin’s “economy atlas”.
The German Games Industry Association has their offices in Berlin-Mitte as well. Apart from all these awesome home grown or international branches or relocated studios, Berlin and Brandenburg also offer a thriving infrastructure in education and academia: from state colleges, private educational institutions, and research institutions a minimum number of 20 different institutions provide training with courses on gaming, 3D animation, or media management.
Read along for more reasons why there is serious business to be made with fun games. With our core module of gamesweekberlin, the Career Day, we want to do our best to connect talent with companies.
